8 Day Arkhangai Tour
Welcome to Mongolia! You will be picked up at your hotel in UB and your trip to Arkhangai province begins. On the way we will stop for lunch at the sand dunes. Camel rides available. Upon arrival to Arkhangai “Mogoin Gol” camp you will be invited to assist the local herdsmen erect your ger accommodation for your stay.
Your morning will be full of cultural experiences. You will be visiting a nomad family to make and taste a variety of traditional dairy products. The afternoon is available to explore the surrounding natural landscape along the several walking trails – or just relax.
The morning is free to continue exploring or climb the local mountain to enjoy the view. The guide will help you search and sight some of the local wildlife. Wolverines, lynx, wolves, roe deer have been seen. Marmots, almost extinct in Mongolia, have been re-introduced to the area as part of a conservation project.
The afternoon is filled with more nomad experiences feeding animals, yak herding and making biochar. This is part of the conservation work the local forest user group is involved in.
You will leave camp after breakfast to travel west and visit some of the local scenic attractions– Chuluut River, Khorgo volcano (below) and Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake. Tonight you will be staying in a ger camp next to the lake with its spectacular mountain scenery.
On the return to Snake River Camp, you will see Taikhar Rock and visit Tsetserleg, the home of the sacred Bulgan Mountain, monastery and museum. Afternoon is your free time to relax or further explore the natural surrounds at the camp.
Say goodbye to Snake River camp as you start your horse trek to Tsenkher hot springs. The ride will take about 3.5 hours.*
In the afternoon and evening relax in a pool warmed direct from the hot springs.

Pack your bags and you will head east to explore the scenic and historical attractions of the area. You will be visiting the famous ancient capital of Chinggis Khaan - Karakorum, together with its Buddhist monastery of Erdene Zuu and Karakorum Museum. Your stay tonight will be in the family ger camp at Kharkhorin.
A final farewell to the area will be a visit to Bilge Khan Museum – sacred memorial complex dedicated to Bilge khan of the Turkic empire that flourished in the 6th – 8th century. Once visited, travel back to UB and your hotel.
